The “Engineers” team of Wrocław University of Science and Technology has won in the first season of the Academic League games. Apart from the title of national champions, our e-sports team received a cup, commemorative medals, and computer hardware
The Academic League consists in an e-sports challenge in which sixteen teams competed with each other for eight weeks playing the popular League of Legends game - a web-based production where two five-strong teams contend for victory.
The WUST team comprised Adam Howaniec, Bartek Stopyra, Tomasz Duda, Paweł Stępień, Krzysztof Śliwa, and two substitute players Michał Hałacz and Robert Binek.
The games started off with the group stage, where “Engineers” competed against teams from Rzeszów University of Technology, the University of Łódź, and Warsaw University. They were successful in two games and entered the play-off stage as favourites. On their path to the finals, they beat “Lions” from Gdańsk University of Technology, and “Tyrannosauri” from the Military University of Technology, and defeated “Dragons” from Cracow University of Technology in their battle for victory.
During a ceremonial event held in building H-14, the players received commemorative medals and computer hardware, while the champions’ cup was awarded to Michał Bocian, head of WUST’s Students’ Affairs Department.
