What we do for researchers under the ESR
At Wrocław University of Science and Technology:
- we operate a transparent system for recruiting research staff
we respect the principles of equality and non-discrimination when recruiting for research positions
We operate an open recruitment policy (Open, Merit-Based, and Transparent Recruitment Policy) which guarantees, among other things, that:
- competition procedures are adapted to the type of position offered
- competition committees are appointed, representing a variety of backgrounds and qualifications
- at the end of the recruitment process, the candidate is informed about their strengths and weaknesses [see Feedback form]
We support research staff at every stage of their career:
- We create a stimulating research and training environment for researchers
- We provide researchers with flexible working conditions (working hours tailored to their needs, teleworking, sabbatical).
- We encourage researchers' professional mobility: travelling abroad, placements, training, and cooperation with other research units. We recognise the value of mobility in our evaluation and professional development systems for researchers.
- We motivate researchers for self-development: we have launched the incentive schemes Primus, Secundus and Tertius to reward the most active professionals by providing financial support and reducing teaching hours
- We look after young researchers and recognise their contribution to the university. It is with them in mind that we have established Academia Iuvenum – a body for outstanding researchers fresh from their doctoral research
- We create favourable conditions for academics to work as teachers; e.g. the time devoted to graduate or doctoral students is included in their teaching load; there is also a limit on the number of doctoral students working under the guidance of one supervisor
- We help researchers in their professional development by organising training, workshops, conferences, on-line courses, and consultations with a career counsellor, as well as subsidising postgraduate degree programmes or language courses.
- We implement intellectual property rights regulations - Department of Intellectual Property and Patent Information
- We provide access to information on current international projects and grants
- We have launched the Centre for Psychological Consultation and Mediation, where the employee can obtain support e.g. in a situation involving classroom conflict or during an examination session
- We run the Integrated Development Programme of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, as part of which training courses are organised to improve staff competencies
