80 years of history

historia_pwr_1930.jpg

Wrocław University of Science and Technology (Wrocław Tech) was established in 1945, mainly as a result of the involvement of the academic staff of the now-defunct Technical University of Lviv and the Jan Kazimierz University in Lviv, who adapted the destroyed buildings of the German School of Technology - Technische Hochschule.

Today we continue the tradition of these prominent Polish universities and develop in close cooperation with the leading companies of Lower Silesia. We are one of the largest and best technical universities in the country, one regularly ranked among the best in the national rankings.

The first rector of the then merged University of Technology and University of Wrocław was Professor Stanisław Kulczyński (1945-1951). Since then, the university has already seen as many as fourteen successors of the eminent academic. Currently, the tertiary institution is governed by Professor Arkadiusz Wójs, whose term of office will last until the end of August 2024.

We remember our graduates, and they remember us

absolwenci.jpg

Several thousand graduates leave Wrocław University of Science and Technology every year. We are proud of all of them because we know that they will do well in the labour market. According to the research conducted by the university’s Career Office, some of them find employment when still studying, and 70% in three months after receiving their diploma, at the latest. Moreover, our graduates enjoy good earnings: we are ranked second in Poland in terms of median earnings.

We work hard to ensure that the bond between the university and our graduates are strong and long-lasting, which is why since 1976 the Association of Wrocław University of Science and Technology Alumni has been active organising meetings and events for graduates from various faculties and years, helping them get in touch with their university friends, or organising meetings with interesting graduates who share their knowledge and experience with students.

The Career Office of Wrocław University of Science and Technology is developing the Mentoring Development Programme, which consists in individual consultations with university graduates who have achieved professional success and now want to pass on their knowledge to others.

Our campus is a place for everyone

kampus.jpg

Our campuses are modern, functional and beautifully located.

Amongst others, we have Bibliotech (a modern building of the Wroclaw Tech's library housing  the BEM supercomputer), or Technopolis (a facility consisting of two modern educational, scientific, and laboratory buildings).

We have enlarged the Na Grobli Campus, which includes the Geocentrum education and research centre and GEO-3EM - the centre for research and technology transfer focusing on the sustainable use of raw materials and energy from various sources.

The Student Culture Zone operates with the needs of our students in mind, while the Cableway over the River Odra, called by students "Polinka", is a transport solution unique in Poland. The cable car service links the main campus of Wrocław University of Science and Technology with the Na Grobli Campus located on the opposite side of the river.

In 2023, we completed the renovation of the former hospital on Hoene-Wroński Street, which was built to a design by the famous architect Max Berg. It now houses the Faculty of Mathematics and the Faculty of Medicine.

If we add the historic main building C-13, commonly known as the "Cheese Building", the Faculty of Architecture building, nicknamed "Wrocław's Hogwarts", or the beautiful Rector Stanisław Kulczyński Boulevard along the Oder, we are sure that everyone will find a place for themselves on the Wrocław University of Science and Technology campus.
