Six prominent scientists of our university have been awarded the status of professor magnus. The title is one of the initiatives undertaken by WUST to drive academic excellence.
Professor Jan Biliszczuk from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Professor Edward Chlebus (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering), Professor Jan Misiewicz (Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology, Professor Janusz Mroczka (Faculty of Electronics), Professor Marek Samoć (Faculty of Chemistry), and Professor Aleksander Weron (Faculty of Mathematics) are scientists who from now on are entitled to use the title of professor magnus for the next three years.
– This status has been granted to them in recognition of their contribution to science and out of the desire to offer our professors the best possible conditions for further scientific and creative work at Wrocław University of Science and Technology – emphasises Professor Arkadiusz Wójs, Rector of our University.
Awarded for three years, the status of professor magnus is conferred through a competitive process conducted in the summer semester. Anyone who has received this title is entitled to use it at the university and beyond, also retaining the right to be employed as a professor with unchanged working hours and on existing terms after retirement. They may also serve as head of a department at Wrocław University of Science and Technology (in the period of their tenure).
