Record-breaking amounts of funding for our researchers

The National Centre for Research and Development has announced the results of the tenth edition of its "Leader" programme. The largest number of grants and the largest funding for projects were awarded to researchers from Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

It targets young scientists intent on gaining experience in managing a research project and increasing their competence in building and managing their research team on their own.

It also serves the purpose of stimulating the cooperation between researchers and entrepreneurs by conducting research that has the potential for implementation and commercialisation. Additionally, it encourages mobility between sectors, universities, and research units.

In the tenth edition of the competition, whose results were announced in August, 42 scientists received funds amounting to 60 million PLN. The maximum single subsidy was 1.5 million PLN. Most of the winners work at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. In total, they received a record 10 million PLN for their research. These are:

  • Paweł Sokołowski, PhD, Eng (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering),
  • Aleksandra Małachowska, PhD, Eng (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering),
  • Grzegorz Lesiuk, PhD, Eng (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering),
  • DemisPandelidis, PhD, Eng (Faculty of Environmental Engineering),
  • Marcin Kaszuba, PhD, Eng (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering),
  • Agata Kirjanow-Błażej, PhD, Eng (Faculty of Electronics).
