61 people on the main “career” list and 51 in the “single year” 2024 ranking – these are the results of our researchers in this year’s edition of the prestigious ranking of the world’s most influential scientists. In total, as many as 81 scholars from our university have been included in the TOP 2% list, which features scientists whose publications are among the most frequently cited by other authors.
The World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking is prepared by a team from Stanford University in cooperation with Elsevier and the Scopus database. It evaluates the entire scientific output of researchers using a bibliometric index, considering such criteria as the Hirsch index, number of citations (including self-citations), and the author’s contribution to publications.
Researchers are divided into 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields, following the standard Science-Metrix classification. The ranking includes the 100,000 most frequently cited scientists worldwide according to the c-score (with and without self-citations), as well as the top 2% most cited within a given subfield.
Each year, two lists are published: one covering an entire academic career, and another reflecting achievements from the previous year.
This year, Wrocław Tech has achieved a record-breaking result: 81 individuals classified, with 31 included in both categories.
On the career-long list, 61 of our researchers have been recognized. This is nine more than last year. For the third consecutive year, Prof. Rafał Weron from the Faculty of Management and Prof. Katarzyna Chojnacka from the Faculty of Chemistry were ranked at the top. Currently, Prof. Paweł Pohl (also Faculty of Chemistry) holds the third position.
