We are the only university from Poland to coordinate a European grant in the MSCA Doctoral Training Programme “Doctoral Networks 2024”. The CHIRALNANOMAT project is led by Prof Joanna Olesiak-Bańska and involves research related to the development of nanoparticles for applications in catalysis and bioimaging.

Strong Wrocław Tech performance in Nature Index 2026

Wrocław University of Science and Technology has once again been ranked the best Polish technical university in the Nature Index Research Leaders. The university performs particularly well in physical sciences and chemistry, where it holds first place among Polish technical universities.
Nature Index is an open database of scientific publications and author affiliations. It tracks articles in areas including the physical, natural, technical, social and health sciences, published in a carefully selected group of scientific journals.
Nature Index Research Leaders 2026 presents the publication output of scientific institutions in the world’s most prestigious journals. The latest edition of the ranking includes publications from 178 sources: 177 journals and one conference.
High positions in Poland, Europe and worldwide
Among the universities included in the Nature Index Research Leaders 2026, Wrocław University of Science and Technology ranked 672nd in the world and 188th in Europe. In Poland, the university maintained its position as the country’s leading technical university. Nationally, Wrocław Tech is ranked fifth overall.
The university’s strongest performance was in physical sciences, where it ranked fourth in Poland and first among Polish technical universities, with a global position of 585th.
Wrocław Tech also achieved a very strong result in chemistry, ranking first among Polish technical universities and sixth in Poland overall. Globally, the university was ranked 638th in this field.
In biological sciences, Wrocław Tech ranked 19th in Poland, while in health sciences it was placed 24th.
Materials chemistry, quantum physics and nanotechnology
Publications by Wrocław University of Science and Technology researchers most frequently concerned macromolecular chemistry and materials chemistry.
Other key research areas included analytical chemistry, quantum physics, organic chemistry, nanotechnology, theoretical and computational chemistry, physical chemistry, condensed matter physics, elementary particle and high-energy physics, as well as electronics, sensors and digital hardware.
Research conducted with partners from around the world
Wrocław Tech’s strong results in the Nature Index are also the outcome of intensive international cooperation.
Among the foreign institutions with which Wrocław Tech researchers published most frequently were Arizona State University in the USA, the Max Planck Society in Germany, the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune in India, TU Dresden in Germany, and the Jožef Stefan Institute in Slovenia.
In Poland, our researchers most often collaborated with the Polish Academy of Sciences, Jagiellonian University, the University of Wrocław, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, and the University of Warsaw.
