The brain not only thinks, but primarily predicts – and in doing so, efficiently regulates the body and creates our every experience, including every instance of emotion. Prof. Lisa Feldman Barrett from Northeastern University, a world-renowned neurobiologist and psychologist, will discuss this extraordinary mechanism during the Interdisciplinary Scientific Seminar at Wrocław Tech.

We invite you to the lecture „Three Lessons About the Brain” on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in the auditorium of Building A-1. The lecture begins at 1:15 PM. Admission is free, but prior registration via Evenea.pl is required.

Prof. Lisa Feldman Barrett is a prominent researcher in the field of neurobiology and psychology, associated with Northeastern University in Boston, where she holds the position of University Distinguished Professor of Psychology. She also collaborates with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), holding research appointments in the Departments of Psychiatry and Radiology.
She is among the top 1% most-cited scientists worldwide for her research in psychology and neuroscience. She has published over 280 peer-reviewed scientific papers, which have been cited more than 100,000 times.
She is the author of two best-selling popular science books, „How Emotions are Made: The Secret Life of the Brain” and „Seven and a Half Lessons About the Brain”. She is a recipient of many prestigious scientific awards and an elected fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Royal Society of Canada.
Her TED talk has been viewed more than 7 million times to date. Colleagues have referred to her as “the William James of our time” and “the deepest thinker on since Darwin”.
