On Tuesday, April 27, you will listen and find out about things such as admission rules, the interview format, as well as what a typical day of a PhD student looks like. You will meet the Dean and Vice-Deans and talk to PhD students keen to share their experiences with you. We will also explain how to find a thesis supervisor, what pursuing your PhD degree is all about, and how it differs from doing doctoral studies. The entire event will be held online. Everybody interested in the subject is welcome to join us from 5 p.m.

The following representatives of the Doctoral School will be waiting for you: Prof. Krzysztof Walkowiak, Dean of the Doctoral School, Prof. Agnieszka Wyłomańska, Vice-Dean for Doctoral Students, and two young researchers currently pursuing their PhDs at the Doctoral School: Wioletta Sermak and Arif Eftekhar Ahmed.

– During the meeting, we’ll bring up all issues that candidates consider the most important as far as admissions and education at the Doctoral School go – says Prof. Agnieszka Wyłomańska. – We’ll also talk about the “Implementation Doctorate” programme, which is an alternative path to the PhD degree. If someone wants to develop their career in science without giving up their career outside academia, this is where they have the opportunity to do so – she adds.

The first, held in Polish, will start at 3 p.m. Two hours later, we will start with a broadcast intended for foreign candidates. – The scope of both meetings is similar, but of course, in the second meeting we will focus on issues relevant to foreigners – explains Prof. Agnieszka Wyłomańska.

Arif Eftekhar Ahmed, who comes from Bangladesh, will talk about his experience with WUST’s Doctoral School. He is currently in the second year of his Environmental Engineering, Mining, and Energy PhD programme, where he deals with techniques for removing various contaminants from wastewater.

At our university, he completed his second-degree programme in Environmental Quality Management (EQM) at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering.
