The European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers as parts of the development environment for researchers.
In June 2016 European Commission granted our University the logo "Human Resources Excellence in Research". It is given to those institutions that apply the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.
Having the logo "HR Excellence in Research" is awarded, among others, in international grant competitions of the European Commission, national grant competitions of the National Center for Science and the National Centre for Research and Development and competitions and funding programs of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Logo "HR Excellence in Research" will provide the University prestige and distinction as an institution creating the best working conditions for scientists while implementation of research and scientific development in accordance with the European standards.
At Wrocław University of Science and Technology we know how important it is to create a friendly and stimulating environment for research and to provide researchers with stable working conditions and professional development. To strengthen the competitiveness of our university and to ensure, to even greater extent, adequate space for the development of science, Wroclaw University of Science and Technology signed a declaration of support for the principles and recommendations adopted in the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.
Adopted in 2005 by the European Commission the Charter and the Code describe the rights and obligations which are subject to both scientists and the institutions employing them. Both documents highlight the need to create good and stable working conditions for researchers at every stage of their careers. Institutions acting in the field of research and development, among others, universities that implement the principles of the Charter and the Code for their internal regulations and establish a standard for their use shall be honored with the logo of "Human Resources Excellence in Research".
Wroclaw University of Science and Technology declaring its support for the principles contained in the Charter and in the Code, and thus acceding to obtain the logo "HR Excellence in Research", undertook to carry out an internal study to assess the extent to which its functioning is consistent with the Charter and the Code and also preparation of the Strategy HR and the Action Plan defining the implementation of European standards concerning working conditions of scientists.
To this end, in March 2016 there was appointed a Team on Implementation of the Principles and Recommendations of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology.
Due to the fact that our University has been granted the prestigious logo “HR in Research Excellence” in June 2016, a monitoring group has been appointed out of the implementation team. The team consists of:
One of the most important activities related to the implementation of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers at our University was a survey on working conditions of scientists. The aim of the study was to obtain data to create a plan setting out the main lines of action to implement the guidelines contained in the Charter and the Code.
Research and teaching staff, researchers, scientific-technical staff, engineering and technical staff and PhDs’ of Wroclaw University of Science and Technology were asked to fill in the survey.
