The winter’s opportunity to start a degree programme – enrolments at WUST

Date: 14.01.2021 Category: admission

63 fields of study, including 21 in English, three novelties, over four thousand free places are the basic facts summing up the offering of Wrocław University of Science and Technology in the winter enrolment time. The enrolments end on February 12.

The process is open to citizens of all European Union countries as well as foreigners who hold the Pole’s Card, a permanent residence card, or another document enabling them to pursue studies on the same terms as Poles.

The largest number of free places – more than 3.7 thousand – are waiting for those who want to do second-cycle full-time degree programmes. Also, three new degree programmes have been added to WUST’s offering for the first time. These are: Cyber Security and Trusted Artificial Intelligence Systems (Faculty of Electronics) and Artificial Intelligence (Faculty of Computer Science and Management).

Two of the three new programmes concern artificial intelligence in the broadest sense of the term.

– AI specialist is currently the most desired profession in the IT industry – explains Anetta Stypułkowska, Head of the Admissions Department. – Our students will study subjects such as machine learning, deep neural networks, quantum algorithms, or natural language processing. There will also be matters relating to ethical, legal, and social aspects in the fields of AI and cybersecurity.

Importantly, each student will have the opportunity to carry out their own research and implementation project and can expect individual mentoring to be provided by a tutor. Trips to at least two scientific conferences and study visits to companies and research centres, e.g. the Silicon Valley’s IT industry leaders, are also planned.

– In turn, the launch of the Cyber Security degree programme is a response to the growing demand from the labour market, including companies, corporations, and state institutions, for professionals specialising in ensuring and maintaining the security of ICT systems – explains Anetta Stypułkowska.

Students pursuing this degree programme learn subjects including ways to create secure services, the structures and operation of data collection and processing centres, system and network security, ICT network auditing, and computer forensics.

The winter enrolment process also offers more than 350 places on six part-time second-cycle programmes and 60 places on part-time first-cycle programmes in Mining and Geology.

– The registration of applications ends on February 12, at 11 a.m. – says Anetta Stypułkowska, Head of WUST’s Admissions Department. – We’re currently working on a procedure to make it possible to submit documents in person, but we ask candidates to send their complete documents by mail or courier if possible.
