Integration trips, informational events about university life, and meetings with faculty coordinators – nearly 800 international students are now prepared to begin their studies at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Today, we officially welcomed them to our university.
A total of 390 students admitted for full-degree programs and another 400 on exchange programs will start studying at PWr. To support them, the University’s Center for National and International Relations, in cooperation with ESN Wrocław Tech, has planned several days of activities and workshops on campus and around the city.
New students have already had the chance to meet each other during an evening pub crawl in Wrocław and learned why having a PESEL number is useful. They also took part in campus and city tours, as well as an integration trip to Karpacz.
The highlight was the meeting in building C-13, where international students were welcomed by Prof. Kamil Staniec, Vice-Rector for Education at PWr.
“I congratulate you on your courage, because studying abroad is always a challenge, but also a huge opportunity,” said Prof. Staniec. “I know this from personal experience, as I was once in your place. I still remember my first day on student exchange in Denmark – the same emotions, questions, and excitement before a new chapter of life.”
On October 1, a total of 390 students will begin full-degree programs in Polish or English at PWr. The largest groups come from Ukraine, Belarus, and Turkey. Another 400 have arrived for one or two semesters under exchange programs, mainly from Spain, France, Turkey, and Portugal.
“I wish you all not only knowledge from your time at Wrocław University of Science and Technology, but also friendships, memories, and experiences that will stay with you forever,” Prof. Staniec said. “Each of you is creating your own story. Let your ‘memory drawer’ from this time be filled with positive experiences and constructive lessons from overcoming challenges. You are here not only for education, but also for relationships, inspiration, and new perspectives. I hope your time at our university will be truly special.”
During the C-13 event, CRKiM staff explained and presented, among other things, how to navigate the campus, how to spend free time, where to seek support in difficult situations, and how to join student research groups and organizations.
The welcome program was enriched by a performance from the PWr Big Band, whose members played several musical classics for the new students.
