More than 130 people took part in a special event in support of Wrocław University of Science and Technology students from Ukraine. Thanks to the donations and the charity auction on Saturday we collected a total of over 60 thousand Euro.
The event was organised in the main building auditorium in response to the dramatic events in Ukraine and replaced the traditional Charity Ball of Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The auction was led by the Rector, Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs and Anna Geryn, editor-in-chief of Academic Radio Luz, who together presented the prepared items to the participants gathered online.
Twenty-six items were put up for auction, and thanks to the generosity of the guests, the bidding yielded over 43 thousand euros. The highest amounts in the auction reached: Wacław Sporski's painting "The Birth of Civilization" and the sculptures "Profesorka" and "Doktorantka" by Tomasz and Konrad Urbanowicz, architects, artists and designers, creators of large-format artistic glass in architecture.
Even before the auction started, we managed to collect 75 thousand zlotys for our students from Ukraine. Funds for this purpose were contributed by: Grupa Impel, KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., Elektrotim S.A., Empiria and Knowledge Foundation, Nalco Polska Sp. z o.o. After the auction, additional funds were donated by private donors
To sum up - the total amount collected, which will go to Ukrainian students and PhD students of the Wrocław University of Technology, is over 60,000 euros.

Although the Wrocław University of Science and Technology Charity Ball did not take place this year, it does not mean that scholarships for disabled students of our university will not be granted. Thanks to generous sponsors (PKO BP, PCC Rokita, Grupa IMPEL S.A.), payments from invitations from the staff and friends of the University of Technology and record funds received as part of the Night Lists action, we have collected about 44,000 euros for the scholarship fund.
Currently, there are over 330 students with disabilities studying at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. At the university they can take benefit from many additional forms of assistance, e.g. educational assistant, rental of equipment facilitating learning, substitute sports classes or additional foreign language classes.
