Over 600 foreign students from a few dozen countries took part in the “Orientation Day” organised at WUST, which allowed them to learn about the university and the campus, as well as familiarise themselves with the offering of the scientific circles active at the tertiary institution
1,050 foreign students are going to pursue courses at Wrocław University of Science and Technology in the new academic year. In the summer semester, 310 new people will come from abroad to begin their full cycle degree programmes. Most of the foreign students come from countries including India, Turkey, and Ukraine, but there will also be young people from Iraq, Yemen, Colombia, Congo, the USA, or Zimbabwe. Additionally, 309 students, mainly from Turkey, France, Portugal, Spain, and Germany, have chosen to study at our university under the Erasmus+ programme.
The students received a solemn welcoming from Professor Andrzej Trochimczuk, Vice-Rector for Research and Internationalisation. – I wish to assure everybody that we will do our best to make the time you will spend here very enjoyable. In the coming few hours, we will provide you with a complete information package about the university, our scientific circles, the library, and Wrocław. I believe that it will help you better organise your stay in our city.
During the event, our new students saw an informational film about WUST, watched a special presentation prepared by the University units and their new peers who belong to scientific circles and students’ organisations, and became familiar with the offering of the University’s library.
Tian Lu from China – I’m going to study at the Faculty of Computer Science and Management. I’d heard of Wrocław University of Science and Technology before, as my university is carrying out joint research projects with it. I checked your website on the Internet, and the university’s multicultural character appealed to me. What’s more, Maria Curie-Skłodowska is my cult hero. I’ve read her book and I think it’s very inspiring. I’ve been in Wrocław for two days now, so the only thing I’ve had time for was quick shopping.
Larissa from Germany - Everybody enrolling in Erasmus want to go to Italy or Spain, but I’d heard from my friends that there’s a very good university in Wrocław, and architecture is one of the best degree programmes here. I’ve been here only for a few days, but I like the histori
Andre and Fernando from Angola
Andre: I’ve been in Wrocław for nearly a year. I’ve always been interested in how huge machines work - especially planes. This is why I’m studying machine mechanics and construction. Angola is one of the developing countries, so I hope that what I’ll learn at WUST will be very useful to me when I’ve come back home.
Fernando: I’m studying at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, which I think is one of the best - not only in Poland, and getting my degree here will guarantee a good job. I chose your country because of the people’s openness. What I love about Wrocław is the river Odra, the architecture, and the many places where you can get together.
Ayman from Ukraine – I came from Odessa to study Mechanical Engineering. I chose this degree programme because I’m interested in physics and mechanics. It’s my first visit to Wrocław, and I haven’t seen much yet, but the city itself really appeals to me. It’s very clean here, and the people are very nice and helpful.
Jyotiraditya from India – I’m going to study informatics at the Faculty of Computer Science and Management. I chose WUST because I know that it’s a very good university, and studying here means many professional opportunities in the future. The city is beautiful - I really like taking walks here.
Marta from Spain – I’m going to study informatics at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. It’s my first visit to Poland, but I’d heard many good things about Wrocław from my friends. I’ve only arrived in the city, so I haven’t yet had an opportunity to sightsee, but I hope I’ll soon be able to take a tour of the city.
