As many as 27 scientists from Wrocław University of Science and Technology have become included in the prestigious ranking of the most influential people in the world science. The TOP 2% list includes the names of scientists whose publications are most often cited by other authors. 

The ranking is developed by analysts from Stanford University, the publishing house Elsevier, and the company SciTech Strategies. It evaluates the entire scientific output of researchers according to the bibliometric index, having regard to criteria such as the Hirsch Index, number quotations (also self-quotations), or the place on the authors' list.  

The list comprises almost 160,000 names from all over the world, including 726 people working in Polish research centres. The largest group of influential researchers included in the list, as many as 141, come from the Polish Academy of Sciences. Wrocław University of Science and Technology took the 6th place among Polish institutes. 

As far as WUST scientists are concerned, the highest position is held by Prof. Rafał Weron from the Faculty of Computer Science and Management. The other places are held by Prof. Paweł Pohl from the Faculty of Chemistry and Prof. Katarzyna Chojnacka, also from W3.
