Our university is to be showcased at the Wrocław Fair of Good Books At the university’s stand in the Centennial Hall, visitors will be able to test VR glasses, see digitised archival photos of Lower Silesian monuments of architecture, and get to know the offering of WUST’s Publishing House. The fair’s special guest will be Professor Andrzej Wiszniewski
The Wrocław Fair of Good Books is to be held already for the 26th time. The event, scheduled to start on Thursday (November 30) and end on Sunday (December 3), attracts publishers from all over Poland to Wrocław. the event is visited by crowds of readers - last year, it was attended by almost 60 thousand people. The fair’s programme abounds with meetings with writers, authors, and people active in the culture environment. One of the event’s highlights will be the prize “Fredro’s Penę for the best book published in Poland last year.
Wrocław University of Science and Technology is to be present at the fair for the first time, with a stand presenting not only books published by WUST’s publishing house but also modern technologies applied for purposes such as digitisation of archival film or expanded reality goggles. Moreover, we will show devices used by disabled people at our workroom for the blind and visually impaired.
WUST’s Publishing House will present its latest titles, including the following: “The Norwegian Architecture and Sculpture vis-a-vis Nature” by Ewa Cisek, “Re-City. Scenarios of the Development of Urbanisation in the 21st Century” by Łukasz Damurski, “Gardens in Silesia V. I and II’ by Marzena Jagiełlo and Wojciech Brzozowski, or “The Shaping of Residential Environment for Senior Citizens” by Barbara Gronostajska.
The event’s programme also includes a meeting with Professor Andrzej Wiszniewski - a prominent personality of the world of science and former minister of science, rector of WUST in the years 1990-1996. Professor Wiszniewski will talk about how to write about difficult things in an accessible manner. The meeting will be held on December 1, at 01.00 pm. Admission is free of charge.
