The recently published ranking Nature Index 2025 Research Leaders, which looks at the quality of research papers, our university ranked 4th in Poland, 188th in Europe and 661st in the world. It transpires from the source that we perform best in chemistry and physics, ranking first among Poland’s technical universities.
Nature Index is an open database of author affiliations and institutional relationships which continuously monitors scientific articles in the fields of exact and natural sciences, as well as health sciences, published in 145 prestigious journals selected by an independent group of researchers.
Wrocław University of Science and Technology ranks 661st in the world, 188th in Europe, and 4th in Poland among the classified universities. Also, we are Poland’s best technical university in the ranking.
As for specific disciplines, we achieved the highest results in physical sciences (4th place in Poland and 1st among technical universities, 580th globally) and chemical sciences (5th place in Poland and 1st among technical universities, 568th globally). Furthermore, nationally, we rank 8th in Earth and environmental sciences, 19th in biological sciences, and 53rd in medical sciences.
The topics covered in the articles by Wrocław Tech researchers most often included areas related to quantum physics, macromolecular chemistry and materials chemistry, particle physics and high-energy physics, physical chemistry, nanotechnology, as well as sensor electronics and the electronics of digital devices.
Among the foreign scientists collaborating with our researchers, most of them represented Northwestern University (USA), Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (Germany), Jožef Stefan Institute (Slovenia), Centre national de la recherche scientifique (France), and the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom).
As far as domestic cooperation is concerned, our researchers most often collaborate with those of the University of Wrocław, the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Łukasiewicz Network, the Łódź University of Technology, and the University of Warsaw.
The Nature Index 2025 Research Leaders ranking looks at the period from January 1 to December 31, 2024. The methodology used is described on the Nature website.
