Panoramiczny widok Wrocławia o zachodzie słońca, z lotu ptaka. W centrum kadru widoczny jest charakterystyczny, podłużny budynek Politechniki Wrocławskiej z ceglastym dachem. W tle rozciąga się miejski krajobraz z licznymi budynkami i rzeką. Zachodzące słońce tworzy silną, ciepłą poświatę po lewej stronie.

Wrocław Tech has moved up in the prestigious Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). In this year’s ranking, we are ranked between 901 and 1000 globally and second (ex aequo) among Polish technical universities.

The 2025 ranking covers over 2,500 universities worldwide, but individual positions are reported only for the top 1,000. Once again, Wrocław University of Science and Technology is included in this group. We are ranked in the 901–1000 range globally. Among the seven Polish universities listed in the ranking, we are in positions 4–7. We are also the second technical university (ex aequo with Warsaw University of Technology) and the only university from Lower Silesia.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (also known as the Shanghai Ranking) has been published since 2003. Since 2009, the ranking has been compiled by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. Universities are evaluated according to six indicators of academic or research performance:

  • Award – the number of staff who have received a Nobel Prize (in Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, or Economics) or a Fields Medal (in Mathematics).

  • HiCi (Highly Cited Researchers) – the number of highly cited researchers from the institution, selected by Clarivate.

  • N&S (Nature & Science) – the number of scientific papers published in the prestigious journals Nature and Science between 2019–2023.

  • PUB (Publications) – the number of scientific articles indexed in the Science Citation Index-Expanded™ and Social Science Citation Index™ (Web of Science) in 2023.

  • PCP (Per Capita Performance) – a weighted score of the above indicators divided by the number of full-time equivalent (FTE) academic staff.

Wrocław University of Science and Technology’s positions in the individual indicators:

  • Award – 157+,

  • HiCi – 802+,

  • N&S – 888,
  • PUB – 813,
  • PCP – 1206.

For the 23rd consecutive time, Harvard University took the top spot, followed by Stanford University in second place and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in third.
