Wrocław recognises creative people from WUST

For the fifth time now, the online portal wroclaw.pl has announced a ranking of 30 creative Vratislavians - people whose talents and passions led them to achieve international success. The winners include researchers, graduates, and students of Wrocław University of Science and Technology

The list of winners was created based on the names put forward by the readers of the city website. Awards were granted for a few categories: society/city, culture/art/design, science, and business.

This year's ranking once again includes people whose activity is related to Wrocław University of Science and Technology. These are:

r_weron2_2019.jpgProfessor Rafał Weron - a scientist from the Faculty of Information Technology and Management of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, who specialises in research into the electricity market, primarily in short-term price forecasting but also in forecasting energy demand and production volumes from renewable sources (RES).

agnieszka_podwin_w_swoim_laboratorium_3.jpgAgnieszka Podwin - a PhD student at the Faculty of Microsystem Electronics and Photonics of Wrocław University of Science and Technology. A winner of the "Innovation is a Woman" competition, Agnieszka Podwin conducts research into the "lab-on-chip" platform, a miniaturised laboratory that can be used for long-term cell culture, as well as studies of the biological potential of various types of micro-organisms, cells, oocytes, or embryos.

wladze_akademickiego_stowarzyszenia_esportowego_pwr_1.jpgWUST’s Academic E-sport Association - dedicated to the promotion of e-sports culture and the training of teams and players, was founded on the initiative of students from the WUST team named "Engineers". Since 2017, they have been active in the T-Mobile Academic League. Our team has won three times in these competitions, thus winning the title of national champion. "Engineers’” greatest successes include a bronze medal in the European Academic Championships, held in 2018 in Tenerife, and reaching the semi-finals of this competition in 2019.

bzb_uas_foto.jpgBZB UAS UAS UAS Unmanned Flying Systems - a company founded by Kacper Budnik and Jan Byrtek, graduates of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, operating in the field of the construction of modern drones used in geodesy, civil engineering, and agriculture.

The last project carried through by them was ekoSKY - a vertical take-off aircraft. The construction that allows monitoring of multi-hectare areas in a short time, while the software part of the project makes it possible to analyse data collected.
