With professional drivers in mind

Date: 01.02.2020 Category: general news

Joint research projects as well as organising internships and training programmes for students and future drivers are the subjects of a cooperation agreement signed by representatives of WUST and the association of entrepreneurs Business Centre Club.

podpisanie_umowy_pwr_z_bcc_1.jpgThe agreement will enable mutual support in conducting research projects, inventions and other scientific undertakings using the resources of the GEO-3EM complex and, above all, help increase the number of professional drivers in our country.

- Wrocław University of Science and Technology attaches great importance to such agreements. Business Centre Club is our recognised and well-proven partner on many projects and I am happy that today we have formalised our cooperation in the area of transport.  Our task as a technical university is not only to conduct research and educate students but also to provide services for the economy through such cooperation - said Professor Cezary Madryas, Rector of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, before signing the agreement.

The cooperation with BCC will concern, among other things, submitting joint applications for research grants as well as organising internships and training programmes for students and future drivers, including students of field-specific secondary schools.

The modern Laboratory of Vehicle Dynamics and Safety, operating in the GEO3-EM building at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, will facilitate the performance of tasks. The facility houses equipment including a full-size truck cabin mounted on a parallel robot - a hexapod with six degrees of freedom, moving and tilting in all directions.

- The laboratory conducts research consisting in simulations of trucks and buses, which allows drivers to test their skills in difficult road conditions or in extremely stressful situations. By opening the laboratory, we started research in the field of transport psychology, a field related to, among other things, road safety - explains  University Professor Zbigniew Sroka, PhD, DSc, Eng, from the Department of Vehicle Engineering of WUST’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
