Zuzanna Jasinska with a gold medal at the Chengdu Universiade! A student of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology has won the rowing competition in the lightweight single sculls over a distance of 2000 metres.

Already in Thursday's preliminaries, Zuzanna Jasinska not only won her elimination run, but also achieved the best time of all the competitors. In Sunday's final she was once again unrivalled, leading from start to finish and eventually winning the gold medal with a time of 7:43.31. Second place went to Italian Elena Sali (7:47.84) and third place to German Julia Tertunte (7:50.42).

Zuzanna Jasinska won, among others, the gold medal at the Polish Senior Women's Championships in the lightweight single and the first place at the European Youth Rowing Championships held in Hazewinkel, Belgium. She competed there in the lightweight double. This year, in May, she won gold at the Polish Academic Rowing Championships, competing in the women's single sculls category. She is also the winner of the third edition of the PWr's Best Athlete of 2022 poll.

In total, 198 people will represent our country at the Universiade in Chengdu, competing in thirteen of the eighteen disciplines. The results of our representation can be followed on the portal of the Academic Sports Association.

The event was originally scheduled to take place in 2021 in Yekaterinburg, Russia. The date had to be changed to 2022 due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, due to Russian aggression against Ukraine, the World Federation of University Sports (FISU) revoked Russia's hosting rights for the summer Universiade. China's Chengdu has been designated as the host. The competition will conclude on 8 August.
