Visit in the Department of international cooperation

Our university has extended its cooperation with the prestigious École des Ponts ParisTech. As a result of the agreement, students from Wrocław Tech’s five faculties will be able to study in France under a double diploma programme.

The agreement with the Paris university had already been in place for several years, so far applying to students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Following April’s visit to Wrocław Tech from Thibaut Skrzypek, PhD, a representative of Ecole Nationale des Ponts ParisTech, it was decided to extend the cooperation to other faculties. As soon as in the new academic year, students of the Faculty of Mathematics will have the opportunity to study in France.

– Our new partner has a very good educational offering in the field of applied mathematics, which perfectly complements what we offer in the Applied Mathematics degree programme – says Vice Dean for Studies at the Faculty of Mathematics, Janusz Szwabiński, PhD, DSc. – A semester of study abroad, given the prestige that all “Ecoles Nationales” enjoy, also means the certainty that the graduate will be much more competitive in the international job market.

Those studying at the Faculty of Mathematics will also be able to attend webinars offered by the French university as part of the Sustainable and Green Finance Programme.

Students from the Faculty of Management and Environmental Engineering can also go to study in Paris; here, however, the details of the cooperation are still being established. Knowledge of English and French is a prerequisite for taking part in the project.

Wrocław University of Science and Technology currently has 13 active agreements with partner universities with respect to education under the double degree programme.

Students who qualify for the programme will pursue part of their studies at a university abroad, in addition to compulsory placements in industry. – After completing their studies, graduates will receive diplomas from both universities, which will significantly increase their chances of finding employment in the Polish and international labour market, in reputable companies – says Anna Rogalska, head of the Department of International Cooperation at Wrocław Tech. – A double degree is therefore a broadly understood investment in one’s future career.

École des Ponts ParisTech is one of France's leading technical universities, the so-called “Grande Ecole”. It offers education at 4 faculties, where almost two thousand students study mechanical and civil engineering, materials science, nuclear engineering, mathematics, computer science, environmental sciences, urban planning, transport, economics, and sociology.
