A holiday atmosphere could be felt at the University thanks to St. Nicholas Day-themed events organised by students. Christmas carols were sung in the main building’s entrance hall, while the campus swarmed with elves and reindeer handing out sweets
The students from the students’ self-governing organisation of the Faculty of Chemistry were the first to celebrate. Those who attended the “St. Nicholas Day with W3” event could taste home-made cookies and fairy cakes or have a photo taken with Santa Claus.
- We have also prepared competitions. One of the prizes is a VIP admission to the faculty office - said Karolina Kolbusz and Adrian Kowaliński from the students’ organisation. - It’ll prove very useful when the queues are longest.
The Chemical St. Nicholas Day was combined with the “Give a Sweetie to a Kid!” drive („Daj Słodziaka dla Dzieciaka!”). During the collection drive, apart from the sweet things, the students received toys, stationery, and school equipment. Other units involved in the project were the following: the Faculties of Geoengineering, Mining and Geology, Architecture, Electronics, and Environmental Engineering.
Also building B-4 saw the spirit of Christmas, as the students’ self-governing organisation of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering organised an event there in cooperation with Santander Universidades Polska. Students in Santa Claus’ outfits or wearing plush reindeer antlers were handing out sweets, painted baubles, and - which has already become a tradition - invited the attendees to an exceptional concert. Band W10, whose members are Wiktoria, Kuba, Michał, Jasiek, Wiktor and Paweł, played Christmas-themed songs and carols. The Christmas hits were listened to by an audience including Jacek Lamperski PhD, Pro-Rector for Student Affairs, who attended the meeting.
Another place where the magic of the holiday time could be felt was our Geocentrum. The students’ self-governing organisation of the Faculty of Geoengineering, Mining and Geology prepared gingerbread, Christmas-themed music, and many board games, while The Students’ Culture Zone saw meals served by ladies wearing St. Claus hats.
