More than 40 rectors, university leaders, and representatives of scientific institutions are taking part in the 43rd Conference of Rectors and Presidents of European Technical Universities (crp2025). The two-day event is hosted by the Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

kc1l8325.jpgThe conference has been held since 1980, initiated by academics from Aachen and Vienna. It serves as a forum for discussing the most pressing issues of the academic community and its socio-economic environment.

“Meetings started by our colleagues from Germany and Austria have developed into a genuine platform for sharing experiences and building cooperation among European technical universities. It is not only a space for dialogue, but also a true think-tank shaping the future of education and research in Europe,” said Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs, Rector of Wrocław Tech, during the opening session.

This year’s theme is “Technical Universities for Urban Innovation.” Wrocław welcomes 40 participants from 14 countries, including Poland, Germany, Turkey, Austria, France, Ukraine, Spain, Italy, and Norway.

The participants not only exchange experiences but also work out practical solutions for the development of higher education. They discuss new approaches to current challenges and form working groups analyzing the future direction of technical universities.

The program includes, among others, a lecture by Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs titled “The Architecture of Urban Innovation: Designing Interdisciplinarity and Collaboration.” On the second day, a summary discussion will be moderated by Prof. Renata Krzyżyńska, Vice-Rector for External Relations.

“The theme of our meeting addresses some of the world’s most pressing challenges, which require coordinated and decisive action. As technical universities, we are not only obliged to conduct research in this field but also to set an example of how to respond to these challenges,” added Prof. Wójs.

A guest of the conference is Patrick Child, Deputy Director-General for Environment at the European Commission, who took part in Friday’s opening session and visited the Wrocław Supercomputing and Networking Center, where he saw the Odra 5 quantum computer.

Former rectors of Wrocław Tech—Prof. Tadeusz Luty, Prof. Tadeusz Więckowski, and Prof. Cezary Madryas—also attended the ceremonial opening.
