International rowing regatta, family picnic, music concerts, and many other attractions on the embankment of Wrocław University of Science and Technology. May 26 to see another instalment of Odra River Cup

The sporting challenge starts at midday sharp. Already 15 eights (men’s and women’s) have announced their participation, hailing from universities in Ostrava and Bremen, as well as the Jagiellonian University, the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Cracow, Warsaw University of Technology, Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin, and the Maritime University of Szczecin.  The oarsmen and oarswomen will compete at a distance of approx. 800 metres, starting at the Zwierzyniacka footbridge to finish at WUST’s embankment. The main prizes of the competition are the Cup of the President of Wrocław and the Cup of the Marshal of the Lower Silesia Voivodship.

As usual, there will be an evening duel for the Cup of the Rector of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, where the eights of the two biggest universities of Lower Silesia, the University of Science and Technology and the University of Wrocław, will contend.

Another event of the day will be the race of dragon boats on the river Odra (at a distance of 150 m), which every year guarantees plenty of thrills, on the part of the contenders and spectators alike.

Odra River Cup is more than a river regatta, as it also offers an opportunity for families to spend time together in a pleasant way,  for instance by having a passenger boat trip on the river or taking part in one of the event’s many competitions.
