The historic victory at the championships in Italy and the third place at a competition held in Czechia are PWr Racing Team’s achievements in the Student Formula

pwr_bolid_czechy4.jpgOur students were the first Polish team to triumph in the Student Formula challenge held in the Italian city Varano. Apart from their victory in the general classification, they did best in the business presentations and acceleration test.

There were 49 cars with combustion engines and 19 electric ones taking part in the challenge. The competition begins with static challenges: a business presentation and Design Event, i.e. a racing car’s construction presentation. The jury found PWR Racing Team’s business presentation to be the best, while their Design Event reached the third place.

Also, there were five dynamic challenges i.e.:  Acceleration (test of acceleration at a distance of 75 metres), Skid Pad (race against the clock along an 8-shaped track), Autocross (one circuit of the track against the clock), Endurance (main race), and Efficiency (assessment of the vehicles’ performance).

WUST student’s RT08 bolide once again turned out to be best at accelerating (3.66 seconds), while its 55 seconds result gave it the second place in the challenge consisting in a single circuit of the racing track. As for the other challenges, PWR Racing Team drivers didn’t do much worse, as they came second in both Skid Pad and Endurance.

This very good performance in the mentioned disciplines resulted in an outright victory in the general classification of vehicles with combustion engines. The Wrocław team’s score of 876.30 points meant outstripping the Milan Technical University team (833.69 points) and the German team of the University of Kassel (832.93).

Two weeks later, during the next round of the Student Formula competition, held in Czechia, WUST students again reached the podium. They ranked third at Autodrom Most, with their vehicle as usual turned out to be matchless in the acceleration test.

47 teams took part in the competition’s two classes: bolides with combustion engines and electric ones. PWR Racing Team started the competition with the second place in Design Event and third for the business presentation and attained equally good results in dynamic challenges. With the time of 3.89 seconds, the RT08 bolide won the acceleration test and came second in the highest scoring Endurance test (main race). Altogether, the results let the representatives of Wrocław University of Science and Technology take the third place, following the teams of the Czech city Brno’s University of Technology and the UK’s Hertfordshire University.
