The European Commission has accepted the university's report on the activities undertaken by Wrocław University of Science and Technology so far and granted it the right to use the "HR Excellence in Research" logo for more years to come.
- The HR Excellence in Research award organises standards and provides a friendly working environment for research. Aside from being a recognisable logo in Europe, it contributes to building our university’s brand - says Professor Jerzy Jasieńko, Vice-Rector for Organisation and Development.
The prestigious “HR Excellence in Research” logo is conferred to institutions which apply the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.
The Charter was developed by the European Commission to recommend rules and requirements defining the roles, responsibilities, and entitlements of researchers, their employers, and research funding institutions. The aim of the project is to create an attractive and open labour market for researchers from the community of European countries. The principles set out in the European Charter for Researchers are intended to foster the creation of an open environment for scientific research, transparent recruitment rules, and good conditions of work and career development for researchers.
“HR Excellence in Research" ensures extra marks in the European Commission’s international grant competitions as well as some competitions of the National Centre for Science and the National Centre for Research and Development. The logo also means prestige and distinction for the university as an institution that creates the best conditions for scientists’ scientific, research, and development activity in accordance with European standards. Wrocław University of Science and Technology has had the right to use it since June 2016.
Currently, the European Commission has evaluated the documents developed by the Monitoring Group, headed by Professor Zygmunt Hasiewicz. The evaluators decided that "the implementation of the Action Plan is ensured in a sound and systematic manner, and the university acts in accordance with appropriate and improved quality measures". We have been assessed positively and encouraged to continue progressing along our path. Another audit is scheduled to be held in three years.
All documents concerning the implementation of the principles and recommendations concerning the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers at Wrocław University of Science and Technology are available on a dedicated website.
