Over 250 foreign students are going to start their summer semester at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. On Monday, during the “Orientation Days”, they learned about the University, the campus, and what WUST’s scientific circles have to offer
A total of 100 people will start their courses under full-cycle programmes. Additionally, almost 160 students have come to Wrocław to do their Erasmus+ placements. The largest numbers of our guests come from Turkey, France, Portugal, and Spain, but there are also students from Vietnam, Albania, Kazakhstan, China, Brazil, Korea, and Mexico.
– We’re very happy that so many people have chosen Wrocław University of Science and Technology. For many of you, it’s the first visit to Poland so we’re going to try hard to make it successful. It’s important to us that, after you come back home, you have fond memories of your placement at our University and also that you encourage your friends to come to Wrocław - said Professor Andrzej Trochimczuk, Vice-Rector for Research and Internationalisation of WUST.
During the "Orientation Days", our new students saw an informational film about WUST, watched special presentation prepared by the University units and their new peers who belong to scientific circles and students’ organisations, as well as became familiar with the offering of the University’s library.
Currently, more than 800 foreign people are studying at our University. Most of them come from Ukraine, India, and Belarus. The number includes over 230 participants of the student exchange programme, with the largest representations of Spanish people and Turks.
Sergio Gonzales Repis from Spain – I live in Valencia, and it’s my first time in Poland. I and two of my friends are going to study at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Wrocław University of Science and Technology. We’ve been here for a few days, and I need to say that we really like the city. It’s a bit cold, though - naturally, we don’t have such temperatures in Spain. I chose Wrocław University of Science and Technology because I heard many good things about it from some people I know, who’d been here on their placements.
Salma Alouach from France – I chose Wrocław University of Science and Technology because I know that it’s one of the best universities in Poland. I haven’t been to Wrocław or other parts of Poland before, but I’ve always been curious about this part of Europe. I came here on Valentine’s Day, and I really like it so far. When I was taking a walk in the Old Town, I found out about the rich history of the city, which used to part of Czechia and Germany. At the weekend, I attended the event ESN Wrocław University of Science and Technology. My Erasmus placement in Wrocław involves courses at the Faculty of Electronics.
Nallayagari Ashwini Reddy from India – I came to Poland with four friends and I’m going to study at the university’s Faculty of Chemistry. When we were preparing for the placement, we first had to choose a country, and then a specific university. I decided to go for Wrocław because the degree programme offered by the university is very close to what I studied in India. I’ve been here only a short time, but the city seems nice and friendly. The university itself appeals to me too. It seems to be friendly to the students, as all of the important places are close to each other.
Dilma Horois from Portugal – I’m going to study computer engineering at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. I came by myself, but I had no problems with the formalities when preparing for my placement. I’ve been here only for a short time. I’m only getting to know the city and the university, which is much bigger than mine, back at home. Wrocław is very different from what I’m accustomed to in Portugal. For one thing, it’s much colder.
David from France – It’s my first visit to Poland. I’ve been in Wrocław for four days and I’ve already seen some parts of the city. At Wrocław University of Science and Technology, I’m going to do courses at the Faculty of Electronics. The university is very impressive. I know there are over 20 thousand students here, while about 2 thousand people study at my university back in France. I chose this university because our universities have a partnership agreement, but I have also heard many good things about it from my friends.
