We already know the results of the evaluation of scientific units conducted in 2017. Most of the faculties of our university were evaluated very positively. The organisational unit that did best was the Faculty of Chemistry, placed in the highest possible category A+

We learned the first results of the latest evaluation of scientific units in mid-October 2017. The detailed evaluation, performed by representatives of the scientific milieu who are members of the Committee for Evaluation of Scientific Units, concerned 993 units from across the country in eight fields, including 13 faculties of our university.

After the appeal procedure was completed in May 2018, ten units of Wrocław University of Science and Technology were conferred category A (very good rating) while two units received a B (satisfactory rating). The Faculty of Chemistry got the prestigious rating A+ (prominent), which makes it one of the very best scientific units in Poland. It is conferred to few units of those meeting the requirements of category A while standing out with their exceptionally high standard of scientific research. The categories conferred affect amounts of subsidies to be funnelled to scientific units.

When assessing scientific units, the Committee took four basic criteria into account:

• scientific and creative achievements,
• scientific potential,
• practical results of scientific and artistic activity,
• other results of scientific and artistic activity.
