Monday, May 8, will see the beginning of the biggest student event in Wrocław - the Juwenalia of Wrocław University of Science and Technology. This year, the main theme of the games will be the American Wild West, with over 30 special events prepared by the organisers

The festivities at Wrocław University of Science and Technology will start on Monday with the “Breakfast with the Rector” to last until May 14. Over the further two days, you will be able to take part in events prepared at the campus by students’ organisations operating at our university, including a Polish song competition for foreigners

On Tuesday afternoon, the event will relocate to the Wittigowo estate, where the attractions planned include the Big Barbecue Party, a P.I.W.O. project show and the Saloon Party, i.e. a Wild West themed music event. There will also be a novelty this year in the shape of the urban game Can Construction Competition named “The Can Unleashes Creativity”, to be organised by WUST’s Independent Students' Association. The challenge for the participants will be to use beverage cans and adhesive tape to build interesting freestyle structures.

The following day will include the Great Balloon Battle to start with, and later on, at night, an urban game and concerts. The artists to appear on stage during the whole Juwenalia are, among others, Habakuk, BISZ, XXANAXX and Romantycy Lekkich Obyczajów.

- Just like every year, admission to the Juwenalia is free of charge, but you will have to present your student’s ID to enter Wittigowo estate. This year, WUST students will be able to generate special invitations for their accompanying persons, but those will have to be at least 18 years of age - says Kacper Kaczmarek, the person with the Juwenalia Chapter responsible for safety.

On Thursday, about 11.00 am, the Juwenalia march, this year organised by the University of Wrocław, will set off from the university campus. Thousands of students of all of Wrocław’s tertiary institutes are going to form a colourful procession to reach the Olympic Stadium.

Friday, May 12, will be marked by cinematography. Wittigowo will see events such as a film knowledge competition, workshops and screenings prepared by the university’s film discussion goup.

The full programme of the Juwenalia is available on the website and the Facebook profile.

For the duration of the Juwenalia, a parking ban will be introduced in Wittiga Street. Also unavailable will be the car park at the University’s Halls of Residence, while the city bike station in Wittiga will be partly dismantled.
